How to Reduce Anxiety During Periods of Transition

At some point in your life, you may experience a high stress moment that could trigger your anxiety. Common triggers are events are starting a new job or moving to a new city, other triggers include life changing events such as marriage, divorce or death of a loved one. To help you get through some of life's more stressful moments, here are some tips to help reduce the anxiety during the transition.

Calm Your Mood and Your Senses

Anxiety can cause a variety of psychology and physiological effects on the body. To address those effects, think about what helps you calm your mood. For some people, scents and sounds produce a calming sensation. With this in mind, the use of lavender has been shown to reduce signs of stress and anxiety. For others, the sounds of nature can have the calming effect you are looking to attain. Find the method that works for you and your lifestyle.

Another suggestion is to practice mindful meditation, the practice of letting go. Stress relieving qualities for the effects of anxiety, depression and pain, are found in mindful meditation and are found to be successful in helping patients focus. Many patients who suffer from anxiety have distracting thoughts and by calming those thoughts, you are able to better address the issue.

Journaling to Help Reduce Anxiety

Also, journaling can provide a safe place for people to get their fears and frustrations out as well as their positive and uplifting emotions. It can be a great way for you to look at back at a time when you felt confident and secure and identify what happened for you to feel this way. Conversely, you can also start to look for indicators that make your feel anxious or stressed.

These are a few of the at home remedies that you can try to help you decrease your anxiety levels when entering stressful situations. While these are suggestions for you to try, some individuals need more guidance and should seek professional assistance.
