Couples Counseling: Rekindle the Feelings You Had on Your Honeymoon
Sep 10, 2020
If you've been through some challenging times as a couple, it can be helpful to work things out in counseling.
One of the activities counselors may suggest is rekindling your relationship by returning to things you liked to do together in the first stages of your relationship. Whether it's hiking or just sitting on a deck, return to your initial stages of being a couple. Revisit what first attracted you to each other.
One of the best ways to do this is by revisiting a vacation spot you both like. While it is more difficult to get out right now, there are some available ideas. Make a date! Is your anniversary coming up? Whether you're celebrating your first year together or your fifteenth, a min-vacation can be a great time to build togetherness and experiencing new adventures as a couple.
While most people know
that the 25th anniversary is silver and the 50th is gold, did you know
that every anniversary year offers something special to commemorate it?
First year anniversaries, for example, are paper.
The fifth is wood. Well, print out those tickets on paper! Buy your
partner something that celebrates those materials, even if it's just a
fun paper hat or sitting on a wooden deck overlooking a spectacular
view. Being creative can bring a lot of excitement
and fun into the planning.
If you took a trip to
the place you went on a honeymoon, a vacation will be a reminder of the
first time you were married and in a space together away from home. Plan
another vacation, or you can create a special map
of all your trips to present on a special anniversary as well. Many
artists will create these kind of maps, that can hang in your bedroom or
living room. If you've been to Peru or Colorado? It all goes on the
map, along with dates. Get out the photo albums
or make one. Print that perfect picture when you were both at the beach,
or hiking on a mountain top.
Start planning for your next great adventure and look forward to the time together!
