Cognitive behavioral therapy, sometimes abbreviated as CBT, is a form of therapy that can have a positive impact on individuals, couples, and families. Learning more about it and how it can help may allow you to improve behavior and correct problems.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy based upon the cognitive model. The way that a person perceives the situation is more closely connected with their reaction than with the situation itself. Therapists can direct their clients towards solving current problems as well as providing various skills and tips to modify dysfunctional behavior and thinking.
