Real Life Ideas to Improve Anxiety
Jul 24, 2019
In our society of
jam-packed schedules, and burning the candle at both ends we need tools
to help calm our anxious feelings and worrying thoughts. Here are 6
strategies to help you
calm
your anxious energies
and get through your week with less worry.
Listen to your body
The human body is miraculous. Our bodies tell us more in a day than we even have the time or desire to entertain. When you start to feel worried take a minute to key into what your body is telling you. Are you extra tense? Have you eaten? Too much caffeine? While you are doing a quick self-checklist, breath, notice the air filling your lungs and passing through as you exhale. Taking this quiet moment can give you direction on what steps you may need to take in your immediate environment.
Be Your Own Cheerleader
You are your own biggest
fan. This world is hard, scary, and downright mean sometimes, worst of
all we can become our own enemy. Think of yourself as you would your
best friend, if you wouldn't say something to them
that would hurt their feelings, then you probably shouldn't say it to
yourself either.
Get Active
Put on your favorite
music and move your body. A ten-minute dance party around the kitchen
can do wonders to help calm your mind and lighten the mood.
Find a hobby you love
Do you love to crochet,
draw, or maybe even build playing card towers? Whatever it is that you
enjoy doing, do it! The time spent lost in your hobby can be just the
trick to reset your anxiety levels and let you process
whatever has you worrying.
Schedule Time to deal with the issue
In this day and age, we
are busy! If you can't process your worries at the moment they strike,
write it down and schedule a time to deal with it. It may even be
helpful to have an ongoing appointment with yourself to
sort through your worries.
